VENUE Coastal waters of the Gulf of Mexico off of East Beach

RULES
1. This regatta will be governed by the “rules” as defined in The Racing
Rules of Sailing 2005-2008 and by the rules as defined by International
Formula 18 Association with the exception that all North American
Prescriptions as outlined by The North American Formula 18 Class
Association shall apply.
2. Any other rule changes or modifications will be posted in the Sailing
Instructions
ADVERTISING
1. This regatta is designated a Category C in accordance with ISAF
Regulation 20
2. All competing boats may be required to display bow stickers by the
Organizing Authority in accordance with ISAF Regulation 20.3 (d)(i).
3. All competing boats may be required to display bow numbers
4. The Sailing Instructions will dictate what stickers are to be required
for competitors.
5. The Organizing Authority will provide all stickers that are required to
be displayed in accordance with the Sailing Instructions
ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
1. This regatta is open to any Formula 18 as defined by the International
Formula 18 Association
2. At least one crew member must be a member in good standing with the
North America Formula 18 Class Association
3. All boats are required to have a minimum $150,000(USD) marine liability
insurance (property and injury) covering the skipper
4. Entries and fees may be submitted in advance by mail, online, or onsite
until the close of registration
5. All entries must either be preregistered or registered by 1800 hours of
Sunday October 6, 2007
6. To register by mail print the online form and mail to Susan Matthews,

8. To register online, fill out the online registration form
FEES
1. The entry fee will be $300.00 if received by September 1, 2007
2. After September 1, 2007 the entry fee will be $350.00
3. Entry fee includes two social passes for the Sunday kick off BBQ, the
Mid week party, and the Awards Banquet
4. Additional social passes may be purchased for $30.00 per person per and
can be purchased online or at registration
Social Passes for all three parties will be sold on sight for 50.00
each. Individual party passes may be purchased for 10.00 for Sunday or
Wednesday, and 30.00 for the awards banquet." This price increase is
due to unexpected cost directly related to these parties. (Amended

5. All entries received by September 1, 2007 will receive a signature bag
courtesy of Nautigear
6. All entries will receive two lunches each racing day and two polo
shirts
QUALIFYING AND FINAL SERIES
1. If more than 80 boats enter, a two day prequalifier will be held to
determine which 80 boats are allowed to compete for the championship

REGISTRATION AND MEASUREMENT
1. Registration will be at the regatta headquarters which will be at the
pavilion located on East Beach
2. Measurements and weights will be taken at the pavilion on East Beach
3. All skipper shall present a valid F18 membership certificate and shall
show proof of insurance at the time of registration
4. Per rule F.3.5.3 of the International F18 Class Rules, the first three
boats to finish each of the days races will be spot checked on the beach
upon arrival along with one boat selected at random.
5. The measurer reserves the right to check any aspect of any boats
measurements during the course of the regatta
SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
1. The sailing instructions will be distributed at registration and made
available thereafter at Regatta Headquarters
VENUE AND COURSES
1. Racing will take place on the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico
2. Courses will be listed in the Sailing Instructions
SCORING
1. The low point system as defined in the RRS Appendix A shall apply
except as modified in this instruction
2. When fewer than five races have been sailed, a boat’s series score will
be the total of all her race scores. When five or more races have been
sailed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores
excluding her worst score
PRIZES
1. The number of prizes to be awarded will be 25% of the number of entries
registered by Sept. 1, 2007
MEDIA RIGHTS
1. Competitors give absolute right and permission to the Texas City Dike
Yacht Club, North American Formula 18 Class Association, and event
sponsors to use, publish, broadcast or otherwise distribute for
promotional, advertising, or any other purpose, any images and sounds
recorded during the event of persons and boats free of any charge
DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
1. Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See
RRS 4, Decision to Race
2. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material
damage, or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior
to, during, or after the regatta
3. Skippers and crew will be required to sign a waiver of liability during
registration
